Hey y’all! As many of you already know, this month I am participating in this super cool readathon called Believathon, wherein we have to collect clues from the Manor of Make-Believathon, and return the stolen Maleficarum to its rightful place. If you didn’t know about it, you can check out my November TBR + BuJo spread for Believathon blog post.
So, I have to share some exciting news regarding my reading progress this month, which is….I have completed my TBR! Yes, you heard it right, I have read all the 5 books on my TBR, with 10 more days to go until the month ends! This is seriously a huge achievement, considering I didn’t get anywhere close to my previous 2-3 months’ targets. This was precisely why this month I had set my TBR to only 5 books, in hopes that I might be able to read all of them. And now here I am!
What I am going to do for the rest of the month, you ask? Sit back and relax, most definitely NOT. I am going to be reading even more books, so that I can contribute to the 1 million pages mark that all of us Believathon-ers (I am referring to my fellow Believathon participants) are trying to achieve. Anyway, here is a little something about each of the books I read in these 20 days.
Legacy by Shannon Messenger

Okay, this is the last you’ll hear about this series for a while, I promise😂! I haven’t been able to get hold of book 8.5 yet, so you’ll definitely get a break from me blabbering about KOTLC. But not for long!
Anyway, this was obviously a five star prediction, and it definitely deserves those five stars(obviously!). Although, the cliffhanger!! Though I had expected this after reading all the previous books (all the books in this series end in cliffhangers, in case you’re wondering), this. Was. The worst. Cliffhanger. Ever. Or should I call it the best? Either way, it has left me dying to know what happens next!
Frostheart by Jamie Littler

This was the book nearly EVERYONE was reading for Believathon, so I decided to give it a try too. The book was great, and Tobu is my favourite character (he is an exiled yeti, by the way). Still, I feel the book is a little overrated, and there wasn’t anything too mind blowing or anything. I guess I’ll give it 4 or maybe 4.5 stars.
The School For Good And Evil by Soman Chainani

This book has been on my TBR for what, three months now? I finally read this this month, and I think I would have been better off if I had left it unread. I mean, the plot was great, two separate schools for Good and Evil, and pink-loving Sophie and black-loving Agatha are put into the ‘wrong’ schools. So yeah, a really good story could have been made out of this. But I’m afraid this was not the case. Most of the time I hated Sophie, she really was the worst mc. Yeah, I know she is supposed to be ‘Evil’ and a witch, but did she really have to be that bad, that too towards Agatha, who never wanted anything else other than both of them to be safe? Anyway, when I was halfway through the book, I had made up my mind that I would definitely not continue reading this series. But the ending was better than the whole story put together, so maybe I will read the next books after all. Let’s see.
The Haunting Of Aveline Jones by Phil Hickes

As I have mentioned before, I am not a big fan of horror. Even the slightest mention of ghosts and spirits gives me nightmares for a couple of days😄. But I desperately wanted to collect all the 13 clues for Believathon, and two of them went like – “book that features ghosts” and “book with supernatural element”, so I decided to put aside my fears and try this one out. And it was pretty good (though, as predicted, it did give my nightmares 😂) and I think I’ll be reading the sequel – The Bewitching Of Aveline Jones too. 4 stars to this book!
Nevermoor : The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

I, uh…wow! I finished this book this afternoon itself and just…wow! I think this might just become my current favourite series after KOTLC. A girl with amazing powers, a magical world full of wonder (literally! There is this substance called Wunder which apparently holds a lot of importance throughout the series), a prestigious society who holds difficult trials, what’s there not to like?! My favourite character is Jupiter North, Morrigan’s patron. He is kind, witty, humorous and a whole lot of other things whose combination makes him an awesome person. I actually laughed out loud a couple of time while reading, earning me strange looks from my mother. This book was a five-star prediction, and five stars it gets. Looking forward to reading the next book, Wundersmith real soon!
Those were the books I had in my TBR and have read so far this month. Any middle-grade books you read recently and loved? I would love some recs from all of you. So I guess that is it for this post, let me know your views on these books in the comments. Bye, until my next post (which hopefully would be real soon!).
Ooh this looks really fun! Ahhh I’m so glad you read and loved Nevermoor, it’s such an underrated book and one of my favorites. Lovely update!

IKR! Although, I don’t think it is too underrated at the moment. Lots of people have been reading it for Believathon. That’s what I like best about readathons, under appreciated books often come to light😊

I have actually! Normally it takes about a month for new releases to come to my country but for some reason Unlocked came early, not that I’m complaining! I haven’t read it yet, but I peeked at the art and it looks stunning. 🤩
