Songs that remind me of certain books (or vice-versa!) 🎵🎶

Hello bookworms! Some of you may know that I am fond of listening to music. So I am doing something completely random and unique today. You know how you perhaps listened to a song while reading a book, and then whenever you listen to that sing again, you get reminded of that particular book? Or maybe, while reading a book you get reminded of a particular song? Yeah, that’s what I am going to be talking about today. Maybe you’ll get some book and song recs from here as well!

I will be embedding the songs as well, so if you are lazy like me you need not go and search for those, you can directly play the video right here. With that said, let’s start!

Faded – Reminds me of Sons Of Fortune by Jeffrey Archer
Sons of Fortune by Jeffrey Archer - Pan Macmillan

Of course this is on the top of my list! Every time, EVERY single time I listen to this song, a running movie-kinda scene from the book begins playing in my mind, the moment of the accident and when the MCs got to know they were twins.

My brain has a very good reason to associate this song with this book. Ready for a long story of my life? (well, a small part of my life actually, I can be dramatic🤷‍♀️) This was 3 years back, when I was in 5th grade (yeah, I read an adult book in 5th grade, and anyway my father had to explain me some things from the book). We have this Sports Day event every year in school, and there’s a lot of practice for that. But that year, I wasn’t able to take part in the Sport’s Day because I was going to my grandmother’s place on the scheduled Sports Day date. So when I was not going to be there on the day of the final event, why bother practicing under the hot sun? After a LOT of convincing, my teachers allowed me to skip practice, and sit in a corner doing whatever I like. And what more do I like than to read? I used to sit for a couple of hours reading Sons Of Fortune everyday (well its a thick book, it took me time) while the others practiced. Basically, for all the stunts and other sports events that my classmates would be doing, there was a background song that was to be played, and they had to match the beat. Kinda like a dance. And no surprise there, this song was none other than Faded. After reading the book while listening to the song for so many days, now my brain automatically makes the connection.

What do you mean? – Reminds me of the Divergent series by Veronica Roth
Book Notes: Divergent Series by Veronica Roth - Girls Leadership

In this case, the vibes were pretty much the same in the book and the song. There are these lines in the song, they go something like, “When you don’t want me to move but you tell me to go” fit into the book so perfectly because I remember there was something about Tris telling Four to go away when actually she didn’t want him to leave.

Believer – Reminds me of Orion Lost by Alistair Chisholm

I remember there was something in the book along the lines of Ship constantly reminding Beth a mantra-kinda thing like “I am the master of my own ship” and this reminded me of the lyrics of one of my all time favorite song, Believer.

Something Just Like This – Reminds Me of The Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare

I don’t really know why, though I suspect that it may be because the soft and longing voice of the song reminds me of Jem from the trilogy.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post! Also, I have been running out of ideas to blog about, so your suggestions would be much welcome.

What songs remind you of books? Do you like any of the songs or the books mentioned above? Let me know in the comments section!

P.S I know I have been blogging very infrequently nowadays, and my previous post was more than a week ago. Its because of too many exams, but I will be back to normal soon!
