Welcome to the duel of the year: Rachel versus the merciless blogging slump! They’re trading blows pretty quick– wait Rachel seems to be tiring now and blogging slump is getting an upper hand… oof a MONTH without a single post?? That’s GOT to hurt. Rachel is down i repeat Rachel is down. And with that, my lovely audience, this duel comes to a tragic en– HOLD THE PHONE SHE IS GETTING BACK UP oh my gosh it’s HAPPENING. Swaying dangerously, Rachel is BACK in the fight. I’d still not pin my hopes on her though, she looks like she may tip over any moment.

not that this book needs any introduction but-

Synopsis (from Goodreads)

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?
Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.
Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

  1. Huh, I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while but your post definitely contradicts everything I’ve been hearing…
And also, my bets are on Rachel… BLOGGING SLUMP, YOU MUST NOT WIN!

  2. Noooo, Rachel, how can you not like Evelyn Hugo? 😭💔🤣 Personally, I love it 🥰 It’s exactly the kind of character-driven novel with little plot that I always end up falling for, so I’m afraid I’m with the majority in giving this five stars. But I still found your thoughts on this very entertaining, and I hope you end up enjoying your next read more!
